My Experience
I would actually typically go for a coffee date because that is something I’m most comfortable with because I feel that I will be able to do nothing extreme but to have a good conversation with someone.
I wouldn’t want to be distracted by activities that demand our attention which could take away our focus from dating and getting to know someone.
This is the reason why I usually opt for a quiet coffee date because I really want to have a conversation where I will be able to drill down on the essential questions to ask on a date and see if I would like to go on a second date with them.
However, I have come across people who have stated on the dating app profiles that they prefer to go on adventurous activities for a first date.
I think there is no right or wrong when it comes to dating ideas but two people should actually have a conversation about what’s convenient for each other so that they can focus on dating and not the activities.
Someone who agrees to go on an adventurous first date may be compatible with you in terms of liking extreme activities but may not make the best partner for you.
So, that is essentially why I wouldn’t really focus much on what we do for a date but rather identify if I could get to know someone.

What Is Go-Karting?
Go-karting is a recreational motorsport activity. People get to experience driving small, open-wheel vehicles on a track.
When Is Go-Karting A Good Date Idea?
So, as I mentioned before, that is no right or wrong when it comes to picking a date idea. When is go-karting a good date idea? Let’s look at some of the instances where you could pick go-karting as your date activity.
- You both are naturally adventurous
If you think you both are naturally adventurous, you both would definitely enjoy going go-karting without a doubt. This is because you tend to bond with someone through the activities that you do with them and this would make you feel like you are connected with someone.
- You both actually like go-karting
If the both of you already like going go-karting and if you have go-karting as your usual we can activity, needless to say, the both of you can actually go for go-karting when you are dating because you are sure that you’re gonna like activity and you wouldn’t be having the doubt if either one of you is not going to enjoy the session.
- For the third or fourth date onwards
However, if let’s say you have never been karting before and you do not know what to expect out of it although you think you are open to adventurous activities, you can go for a go-karting date on the third or fourth date onwards because you probably would have known the person to quite an extent and therefore will be able to balance dating and also enjoying the activity as the same time.
When Is It Not a Good Idea?
There are scenarios where go-karting is not a good idea. Let’s look into it.
- Either One Of You Are Shy and Uncomfortable
If either one of you are shy and uncomfortable, go-karting may not exactly be the date idea that you should pursue because you should be considerate enough about the other person’s feelings and how comfortable they are to go on a go-karting date with you. That’s the reason why earlier I suggested you go on a go karting date after a couple of usual coffee dates.
- You Judge Someone Merely By How Sporty They Are
If you think you would want to go on a go-karting date just to gauge how sporty someone is, then your intention is not exactly something that is aligned with dating as a whole because you shouldn’t judge someone nearly by how sporty they are.
Sure, you can have preferences for someone who is active and adventurers like you, but when it comes to dating and picking a life partner, I think there are a lot of other aspects that would come into the picture for you to assess.
- First Date When You Barely Know Anything About Them
Unless you have done go-karting before, and you know that both you and your date will enjoy this activity, going on a go-karting date for a first date when you barely know anything about them is not going to be a good idea.
Imagine going on a date where your mind is preoccupied about the activity and you barely have time to ask questions to your date in order to get to know them better.
This would be a disaster because you naturally would want to go on a second date with them because you have not had enough time to screen them.
This not only wastes your time as you would be confused because you think that you enjoy doing the activity with them and you may think that you’re compatible with them. Therefore, look at the priority of your activity first. If you would want to go on a go-karting activity with a friend, your intention would be to enjoy the activity.
But if you’re going to go on a date with someone, you should be prioritizing getting to know someone and not letting activities and other distractions affect the process.
